What the board does
- Reviews our provenance and description standards, and challenges them where they're convenient rather than correct.
- Advises on the ethics of holding photographs of identifiable people — especially the vulnerable, the deceased, and those who never consented to a camera.
- Pressure-tests our rights, consent, and contributor-earnings model against how it actually lands for the people on the other side of it.
- Has standing to publish disagreement with us. A board that can only agree isn't oversight.
