# Archive & Atlas

> Archive & Atlas is a rights-aware archive of vintage and historical photography. Select works are available in the store to license for digital use across resolution tiers, order as a fine-art print, or acquire with full exclusive rights — with terms stated explicitly per item, from Creative Commons and public-domain works to rights-managed images.

## Machine resources
- https://archiveandatlas.com/catalog.json — open JSON index of the archive, library and store alike (title, maker, year, place, subject, access, license, training flag, page URL, preview image; store items also carry a store URL and starting print price). The whole catalogue normally arrives in ONE response. Each carries "total", "returned", "page", "pages" and "next"; "next" is null when there is nothing further, and if it is not null, follow it until it is. 10,000 records per page. Add ?surface=library or ?surface=store to slice, and ?page=N to move.
- Per-collection indexes: each archive collection has its own slice of that file at https://archiveandatlas.com/catalog.json?collection=<slug>, and EVERY response - every page, not only the first - lists all of them under "collections" with slug, record count and URL. The collections are SUBSETS - some records belong to none of them - so the root file, not the sum of the slices, is the complete catalogue.
